Daniel Fiedler Memorial Student Scholarship Award
The Pharmacists' Association of the Niagara Peninsula (PANP) Daniel Fiedler Memorial Student Scholarship Award is designed to recognize and support exceptional pharmacy students who are committed to advancing the field of pharmacy and providing outstanding patient care. This prestigious scholarship is open to students enrolled in recognized pharmacy programs both in Canada who demonstrate a strong desire to practice in the Niagara region.

The Pharmacists' Association of Niagara Peninsula is proud to award the 2025 winner of the Daniel Fiedler Memorial Student Scholarship Award to Matthew MacLean!
Matthew is a fourth-year PharmD student at the University of Waterloo with a strong commitment to patient-centered care and community engagement. Born and raised in Niagara Falls, he is passionate about building his career in the Niagara region, drawing on valuable experience from both hospital and community pharmacy placements. Matthew has demonstrated a genuine dedication to improving patient outcomes through hands-on care, including medication reviews, vaccine clinics, and patient counselling.
Beyond academics, he is deeply involved in his community, notably volunteering with the Sports for Special Athletes program and supporting charitable initiatives such as the Terry Fox Run. Known for his leadership, initiative, and compassionate approach, Matthew strives to foster meaningful connections with patients and peers alike. Guided by his core values of kindness, optimism, and bravery, he aims to make a lasting impact in the profession and the community he proudly calls home.

A third-year PharmD student at the University of Waterloo, Daniela has demonstrated exceptional commitment to advancing pharmacy practice in the Niagara region. Her passion for serving Niagara's aging population and commitment to returning to the region after graduation exemplify the values and vision of the Daniel Fiedler Memorial Scholarship. We look forward to the positive impact Daniela will continue to make in our community.
On March 29, 2025, we presented the award to Daniela with our Scholarship Committee members VP Nishan Devani and Awards Lead Angela Mistry at the OPSIS Pharmacy Conference. Thank you to Ron Bocchinfuso and Jamie Ikola who also served on our Scholarship Committee.
